    Consultation Fees?

Some music teachers do not feel comfortable charging a consultation fee for an initial meeting with a potential student. However, it is important to remember that your time is money. As a music teacher, don't undervalue yourself; you are a trained professional in possession of a skill that takes as many, if not more, years to polish as does a doctor or lawyer.

Think of it this way: Most lawyers will charge their clients for time spent in an initial consultation. Despite the fact that many are now moving to a free initial consultation approach, most do not. You have business expenses that you are always incurring; whether or not you are getting paid for that time.
